Congratulations to head coach Keith Miller and the Indy Racers Bantam Major CSDHL team as
the USA Hockey Mid-Am District Champions! The Racers beat the Mid State Mustangs (Pennsylvania)
by a score of 7-4 on Sunday. They now advance to the USA Hockey Tier II National Championships
in Frisco, Texas beginning April 1st.
The Indianapolis Racers Travel Hockey Association (IRTHA) is eligible to compete each year at
the U12 and U14 Indiana State Championships,Mid-Am District Championships (only as a winner
of the State tournament), which includes five states (Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia
and Western Pennsylvania), and then the ultimate USA Hockey National Championships (as the
winner of the District tournament).
Since IRTHA's 2005-2006 inaugural season, six of eight eligible Racer teams have made it to
Nationals. In 2006, the '91 Bantam Major team advanced to the quarter-finals. That same
year, the '93 PeeWee Major team were runner-up to the Santa Clara Blackhawks. The following
season 2006-2007, the '94 PeeWee Major team made their first appearance advancing to the
quarter-finals. In the 2007-2008 season, the efforts of the '95 PeeWee Major team got them
to the quarter-finals. That same year, Mark Catron's '93 Bantam Major team returned to
Nationals - and were once again runners-up to the Hatfield Ice Dogs (Michigan).
We wish our '94 Racers the best of luck as they skate toward the elusive title of National
Champions! Catch all the action at www.usahockey.com.
